During NAB 2019, Zeiss kept their promise to continue adding focal lengths to their Supreme line of cinema prime lenses. This time a duo of high speed primes capping both ends of the current Supreme range – 21mm T1.5 and 135mm T1.5
With the addition of these two new primes, the Supremes now come in a total of nine focal lengths; 21, 25, 29, 35, 50, 65, 85, 100, and 135mm – all T1.5! This is well in line with Zeiss’ original goal of thirteen focal lengths from 15mm to 200mm by 2020.
The Supreme Primes are among the most consistent lines of primes available including size, speed, color, image quality, coverage, and weight. All the lenses across the family cover Full Frame / Vista Vision with an image circle of 46.3 mm. Just the same as the exiting primes, the 21mm and 135mm will also feature Cooke /i Data with Zeiss’ eXtended Data for unique profiles of distortion and vignette mapping for correction in post.
The Supreme Primes, including the new focal lengths, are available exclusively in PL mount. However, as of NAB 2019, a dedicated LPL mount conversion kit can be purchased from Duclos Lenses which will also provide eXtended Data. Supreme LPL Mount kits will begin shipping June 2019.
