Angenieux Fixes Their Focal Length With New Optimo Primes

Angenieux is among the most recognized and prolific motion picture lens manufacturers in the world. They continue to push the boundaries of high-end cinematic zoom lenses such as the brand new Optimo 12x Ultra designed to be an all-in-one no-compromise, flexible zoom lens – down to their new Angenieux EZ Zoom line with ultra fast aperture and versatile zoom range. Despite their plethora of achievements, Angenieux fans consistently offer one bit of feedback at every trade show, every dealer event, every opportunity… “What about primes?”

It’s been decades since Angenieux made a dedicated motion picture prime lens. Perhaps to make up for lost time, they’ve just announced quite an impressive roadmap… The brand new Optimo Primes feature full frame 46.5mm image circle coverage, a consistent T1.8 aperture throughout the set, and fully interchangeable mounts including LPL, XPL, PL, Canon EF, Nikon F, and Panavision.

The first six lenses scheduled for Fall 2020 delivery include 21mm, 28mm, 40mm, 50mm, 75mm, and 135mm. The 12-lens set will include 18mm, 32mm, and 100mm delivering Winter 2020, followed by 24mm, 60mm, and 200mm to complete the set in Spring 2021. Pricing has not been confirmed yet but for those of you who can’t wait to add primes to your Optimo zoom set, don’t hesitate to reach out to Duclos Lenses.

See the Optimo Primes at Cine Gear LA and both Angenieux’s booth #40 and BandPro’s booth #70 on the New York Streets and be sure to visit the Duclos Lenses crew at booth #56 while you’re there.
