Sirui Nightwalker 16mm & 75mm T1.2 Primes

Enter the Void

Sirui has expanded its Nightwalker lineup with two new additions designed to enhance the creative capabilities of filmmakers and content creators alike. With a plethora of mount options including: Sony E, Canon RF, Fuji X, Micro Four Thirds, and L-Mount versions, these primes appear to be the Swiss army knives of the affordable compact cine lens category.

Heavyweight Power, Lightweight Speed

The new lenses maintain a consistent design with their pre-existing counterparts, boasting a compact form factor and a fast T1.2. This consistency ensures that users can achieve a uniform look, character, and sharpness across the set.

The 16mm T1.2 lens, steps in as the widest focal length in the Nightwalker lineup. Featuring 14 elements in five groups, including ED elements, it promises optical clarity and minimal aberrations. With 13 aperture blades, it excels in creating smooth and pleasing bokeh, ideal for capturing expansive landscapes or versatility when shooting in small interior spaces.

As a side tangent: It is remarkable that optics have evolved so much. I wonder if the cinematographers of old would be amazed by the vast amount of selection that is available now.

Opposite the wide-angle 16mm is the 75mm T1.2 lens, the most telephoto lens in the lineup, perfect for isolating subjects and achieving a shallow depth of field. It boasts 13 elements in four groups and an impressive 18 aperture blades, ensuring smoothly rendered backgrounds with creamy bokeh.

The Nightwalker Ethos

Both lenses are designed to excel in low-light conditions, thanks to their fast apertures, and are engineered to minimize focus breathing when racking between subjects.

Sirui emphasizes that these new additions, along with the entire Nightwalker range, are not only about optical performance but also about practicality and ease of use. With a minimum focus distance of just 0.3 meters, s35 coverage, and a multitude of lens mount options, these lenses are versatile enough to handle a wide range of shooting scenarios.
