Having trouble keeping track of all the new cinema zoom lenses offered by manufacturers such as Angenieux, Canon, Arri, and Fuji? Fear not my friends. Here is a quick reference chart showing most of the common zoom lenses used by professionals around the world. Feel free to download and share.
Work in progress, please feel free to leave feedback. 🙂
Awesome resource! Don’t forget the Fuji Cabrio 19-90 (and upcoming Cabrio 85-300) and Zeiss LWZ.
Also, perhaps weighting the scale a little logarithmically could give a clearer picture of the range of each lens comparatively? Thanks for all your great work.
Thought about doing them in range order but decided to go with manufacturer groups instead. I’ll have to squeeze those Cabrios in somehow. 😉
I was actually thinking more in the realm of making the scale larger on the wide end, and smaller (closer distance marks) on the telephoto end, to more accurately reflect the difference that changing focal length has in each scenario.
I see. A good idea indeed. That way I can accommodate the ludicrous Fuji 75-400mm. lol
Added the two Cabrio lenses and shrunk the long end of the spectrum.
the cabrio is falling 5 yards short of the goal. 🙁
Awesome chart, but what’s the y-axis representing?
Umm.. There is no y-axis. It’s simply rows of the different lenses. The titles of each lens are in the x-axis range bars.
How about price comparisons as well?
Great job. You sure opened a can o’ worms!
Thanks for doing this. Very useful! What about the Zeiss LWZ?
The ideal for this chart would be to add common prices for each lens!
If you have to ask… 😉
No love for the HR 25-250? 😉
I do love me some good ‘ol 25-250mm HR. I can service those bad boys with my eyes closed!
You’re missing the RPZs…
Matthew, which of those on the chart is the sharpest…
Wide-angle zooms?
Telephoto zooms?
