Fujinon has finally announced the latest addition to their Large Format Cine Zoom lineup: the Fujinon Premista 19-45mm T2.9. Fuji’s newest cine zoom is a short, lightweight wide-angle 19-45mm T2.9 zoom lens. Just like the 28-100mm T2.9 and the 80-250mm T2.9-3.5, the Premista 19-45mm produces images with natural and beautiful bokeh, outstanding high resolution, accurate color rendition, and controllable flare with minimal ghosting for capturing high dynamic range. Fujinon once again did an excellent job at ensuring minimal distortion throughout the entire zoom range allowing for less work in post-production phases and more creativity in the field.
|Minimum Focus||24 inches|
“The response we’ve seen to the Premista lenses since their 2019 launch has been tremendous both in terms of excitement and usage across feature film and high-end TV productions,” said Thomas Fletcher, Director of Marketing, Optical Devices Division, FUJIFILM North America Corporation. “Now, with stricter safety and efficiency needs on set, there is a growing demand for high quality zoom lenses that match the quality and ‘look’ of prime lenses, and efficiently capture images without the hassle of having to frequently change lenses. The Premista family checks off all the boxes, with no compromise.”
Being small and lightweight makes the Premista 19-45mm an excellent choice for handheld work, and using gimbal systems. “This size is absolutely brilliant,” says Ari Robbins SOC seen using an Arri Trinity Rig in the image to the left. “The efficiency of just being able to put it on and have that range without having any other alterations is just brilliant.”
A few more things to note… The zoom, focus and iris gears are consistent in placement for on-set efficiency and quick lens changes. Though the lens is 10% shorter and 14% lighter than the original Premista lenses, Fujinon still managed to include Cooke /i and Zeiss eXtended Data encoders inside the lens.
